Getting to China
China is on another side of the world and it takes 14 hours non-stop from New York to reach Beijing or Shanghai. We recommend you to make most of your trip to China by visiting another country on
your way there. One of the most interesting destinations on your way is Moscow, Russia. Travel All China is part of "Red Square Tours" Family of Brands and our customers have access to great deals on
Russian tours, if you consider following this advise. Ask your tour manager about available options.
If you decide to fly directly, there are non-stop flights departing from New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago. Flights arrive to all major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Honk
Kong and Hangzhou.
Money
You will be able to use your credit cards in major cities like Shanghai or Beijing, but not in smaller places. US dollars are officially prohibited in China, but it is not difficult to exchange them
for yuan (Renminbi). There will be plenty of banks with ATMs in large cities where you can withdraw money from in local currency at the official exchange rate. We recommend always to have few hundred
of dollars with you on hand, in case if there is no ATM nearby and you need some money.
Things cost significantly less in China than in the West and you will love shopping there. Make sure your tour has some free time so you can check out malls and merchant streets for an ultimate
shopping experience. And by the way, you can negotiate prices in every Chinese store. Ask the price, then offer to pay 25% of that price and negotiate settling somewhere at 1/3 of the original price.
This formula works almost in every store, no matter how fancy it is, but not in the restaurants. Tips should be about 5% of total price.
Getting around
If you don't speak any Chinese, you will not be able to get around, with exception of Hong Kong. Chinese usually do not speak English and you will need someone to translate even very basic things.
Each of our tours inclusdes a professional guide who will be with you at all times, translating when necessary.
